Fresh Fiction Writing Competition
The MYWS Fresh Fiction Writing Competition is a cash prize award for stories written by Melbourne Young Writers’ Studio writers each year.
Aimed at encouraging young writers around Australia and beyond to get creative and showcase their talents, Fresh Fiction is a wonderful opportunity for young writers to have their work published and win huge cash prizes.
There are two categories and prizes:
7-12 year olds winner to receive $250
13-18 year olds winner to receive $500.
The winners are announced at the annual Melbourne Young Writers’ Studio Book Launch event in December.
Entries for the Fresh Fiction Writing Competition will open in Term 4. Keep an eye out for emails from mywritersstudio for specific dates and guidelines.

Ukiyo & MYWS Spirit Stories Story Competition
Melbourne Young Writers’ Studio has teamed up with Ukiyo, Melbourne’s top escape room, to bring you an immersive and imaginative series of school holiday programs. The Spirit Stories Story Competition is open to those who attended in the 2023 winter school holidays.
There are 2 huge prizes up for grabs. Each winner will receive 1 x MYWS school holiday program valued at $120 (valid for 12 months) and 2 x Ukiyo Journey tickets valued at $177 (valid for 12 months)!
Submissions close at midnight on Sunday 9 July.
